You who read this, should know by now how much I defend those who are trafficked and brought into a dark world filled with cruelty in slavery of various types.
I wanted to first encourage you to go see the movie TAKEN that is in theatres right now. It is about a father who tries to save his daughter after she is kidnapped while on vacation with her friend in Europe. She is put into prostitution and he goes after those who abducted her and hopes to find her. I haven't seen it, but I plan to when it's on DVD.

Second I wanted to tell you about Acid Survivors. In Bangledesh there are about 200 women and children who are injured by acid throwers. These people who throw acid are usually caught and put in prison for it. The acid rips into the skin and destroys the appearance while burning them. Most people throw acid if their wife or something they want to marry (usually young girls the age of about 13) if they don't agree or obey their wishes. A few of these instances are associated with girls who don't wan't to abide to their "masters" in doing what they want. . the girls who are trafficked for instance. Also because of how these people look afterwards, they often are not able to go out in public or are highly looked down upon for their appearance. A lot of them have to live in an Acid Survivor society (they are treated basically like Lepers) . This happens in a few countries including Pakistan as well.
To learn more about Acid Survivors and how you can help, go here: http://www.acidsurvivors.org/
Here is just a pictoral example of one who has been burned by acid.
Out of respect for the photographer and a promise she made to these survivors she photographed, I have to link you directly to her photos of them rather than being able to post individual photos on my blog of them. Please take a look! Each photo has a story of why they were burned.
