It's amazing how often I think of all these Biblical situations throughout a week's time. When I actually have time to come and share maybe a smidgen of my thoughts, I can't recall them on the spot. It's pretty annoying how badly my short term memory works.
-------
One thing on my mind a lot is dating and relationships, due to the fact that we are teaching the senior high youth about it. You wouldn't believe what these kids are witnessing in high school. Maybe I was just THAT naive as a teenager, or maybe just THAT focused and goal oriented. I knew of slight things that occured from overhearing people's convesations (most kids were pretty loud and outspoken), but to hear a few things that kids hear or what their friends go through is awful.
Let's give it up for society and their acceptance of pretty much anything under the sun. :: rolls eyes :: Honestly, There is hardly anything I can imagine that is not considered to be "okay".
I remember watching the newer Superman movie (keep in mind the influence that movies have on our youth) that came out while I was pregnant with Leto. Lois was living with her fiance' and had a child out of wedlock with Clark; but her fiance' thought it was his son. This was slightly more shocking back 30 years ago, but today people don't think it's a big deal at all. Let's just throw out the fact that the Bible says "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." -Hebrews 13:4 would make people be a little more careful, and a little more guilt ridden for their faults that it would make them remorseful about it so much that they'd ask God to cleanse them of their sin and work at staying away from it.
The problem is that there is a lack of morals being taught in our society. When morals are taught in secular places, it is often laughed at and shunned, because people want to get away with everything. They don't want to be told how they should live their lives. If you tell them to wait for marriage or give them the whole abstinence speech, people will take offense or call you judgemental. Is it wrong that people are trying to protect others from many wounds in their spirit, body, thoughts? There would be less disease, less teen pregnancies, less abortions, less sexual slavery, and less heartache if people had a mindset to do what they can to obey God in living pure lives. Instead they shrug it off, make excuses for the acts they commit, and hold a lack of guilt because "everyone else IS doing it." Sin is taking hold of our youth and making it a game or a joke to the world.
