I know that lately you've mainly seen me wear 1940s & 1950s dresses, but since I was 7,
I dressed like I was from the 1960s & 1970s, but I didn't know where to find 40s dresses, even though I watched the movies from that decade and drooled over it all.
This dress I got from Sally Jane Vintage on Etsy (the shop has a big sale right now!), which is a vintage 60s dress. I was in shock when I saw it because when I was 16 I had a (mainly) pink and green dress that looked exactly like it. I don't remember what I did with it but I wore it once a week to school and with similar shoes pictured below (but my dog at the time chewed the straps of the shoes apart). I also did my hair the same way and my hair was the same length at 16. . .of course here I am 10 years later. I get rid of things easily as I am not very sentimental with possessions (I used to be), honestly (stuff is meaningless compared to the relationships you make). I don't keep things too long before I in turn sell them. I do have very few things I've had for ten+ years.
"But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business." -James 1:10 & 11
We are truly ultimately blessed in this life where we live. We are the rich and our beauty and things will be gone in no time. This is why it is better to have a love and adoration for something that lasts after our physical and material selves disapear. My hope is in the Lord for this reason, and this is why I don't hold on to things unless it is God's Grace.
