As known from other entries, I photograph/model clothes for the amazingly talented Shruthi of Shristi Studios or Silk Bella (both are her etsy shops). They are extremely comfortable and so light and fun to wear. I actually wear her dresses on a regular basis because of that reason. She also sells them for great prices! (vote for me still until the 30th and you can get 20% off a purchase and could win a dress for free!!)
The hairclip (as usual) is from Lila-Jo (Shana - the shop owner, who also features me once in a while and is super nice too!)
I probably should have smiled. It is probably weird that I wore this to my Uncle's Wake that day. . I'm a colouful person even when relatives die. ah!
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. -Genesis 2:24
Rob told me yesterday he wanted to get my name tattooed on his knuckles. I thought that was such a bad idea. It would be Vict oria . . no thanks. And then he tells me today how he wants to at least get a wedding band tattoed on his ring finger so that way he has something permanent without a materialistic symbol. Anyway he's been going on and on with a lot of romantic talk about how much he loves me and how we are one, and I melt at it, it is true.
Me and my other half
I'm a bit of a nut. This photo sums up how we are at times. . I'm the little weirdo who dances strangely and he just stands there watching me with a grin on his face (because he loves me and I keep him from boredom). I was going to delete this one but Rob loved it.
I told him, "CATCH ME!" randomly. Because I am taller than him, he honestly has never really been able to carry me at all so I did it for fun and he was not prepared for it. I like this though. I like taking him by surprise. Of course he couldn't catch me, but that's okay.
Busy weekend. See you Monday. Please buy my clothes listed in my previous entry ;)
Movies are rated on a scale of 1-5 stars. Anything over 3 stars is very worth it and is in bold.
The Outsiders 1983 (w/ :Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane) - 3.75 stars - Wonderful story about a bunch of greasers who are working hard to make it in the world. When two friends get caught up in a murder, will they be able to find peace and understanding of what life is really about? This was intense and lovely. Man, there was a LOT of male crying though. Loved the clothes and hairstyles. It was a great movie. There was violence, a little language, and a couple male underwear shots and one very fast female panty shot.
Seven Year Itch1955 (w/ Tom Ewell, Marilyn Monroe) - 2 stars - This movie was awful to me. I am not one who likes when movies seem to promote lusting after someone who isn't your spouse and even if he didn't have sex with her, he did kiss her and committed adultery in his heart by his imagination. I have tried and tried to watch these Marilyn Monroe movies but she is the same character in every film and her acting is awful. It just makes me sad and I suffer trying to watch her. :: sigh ::
Penny Serenade1941 (w/ Irene Dunne, Cary Grant) - 3 stars - Very sweet movie about a couple, who after a miscarriage adopts a baby. You get to see how they grow and mature individually and as a couple because of their baby. Anyway this is a really cute but sad story.
Nana2005 (w/Mika Nakashima, Aoi Miyazaki) - 3 stars - I loved the anime and manga series (which hasn't finished yet due to the artist being injured) and thought this really held pretty closely to it, but you don't get into it as in depth as the series. It is about two girls who have the same name who meet and end up sharing an apartment together. Both are in search of love and are trying to find themselves. Through their friendship they are able to do this. It ended poorly, but there is a second movie! The music is really good.
Nana 22006 (w/ Mika Nakashima, Yui Ichikawa) - 2.25 stars -They replaced one of the lead roles and her acting was so fake and awful. The other actress was exactly like the anime/manga character to me. The other Ren was better too. Therefore it wasn't as good as it could have been. I didn't see enough friendly chemnistry between the two Nanas in this either like in the first. It just made it sad for me.Hachi Nana is pregnant and doesn't know if it is Nobu's or Takumi's. . when I saw the anime I was pregnant with Leto, so I sorta could relate (other than knowing who the father was).
Love Finds Andy Hardy 1938 (w/ Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Anne Rutherford) - 3.25 - It was cute. A guy is told by his girlfriend that she can't go to the dance with him because she'll be away, therefore a friend of his wants him to take his girl to the dance for odd reasonings to see if she would miss him or not. Also a new girl moves in next door with her grandmother. All these girls go wild over Andy Hardy, who is just trying to buy a car and have a pretty girl on his arm for the dance. check out their great hair:
Harold and Maude1971 (w/ Ruth Gordon, Bud Cort) - 2 stars - This is such an odd movie. It starts off with showing a few fake suicide attempts by the lead role, in which his mom is well adjusted to him doing. He is bored and rich and tired of his mom trying to set him up with girls all the time. He has a fascination with death. He comes in contact with an old widow who is fascinated by life. The two of them form a friendship. There is always a strange feeling I get when watching certain films from the late 60s and the 70s.
Ball of Fire1941 (w/ Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck) - 3 stars - pretty cute. A man is working on a slang dictionary with a bunch of older men. He comes across a club singer/dancer who has a slew of slangs in her song and wants to talk to her. She ends up taking refuge with all the old bachelors while the mob is on her tail.
My Man Godfrey1936 (w/William Powell, Carole Lombard) - 2.75 stars - in a "scavenger hunt" by rich folks, a woman brings back a bum in which she really is very kind to. She offers him a job as her family's butler. . .but maybe he is really rich himself! Is love possible between them? The leading lady just made me annoyed most of the time or it might be a higher rating.
Ghost Town 2008 (w/Ricky Gervais, Tea Leoni, Greg Kinnear) - 3 stars - A man who doesn't really care to be bothered by anyone and keeps to himself, but is a little rude because of it, starts seeing ghosts that follow him around to finish things for them. One ghost in particular is constantly with him and wants him to help his wife. This to me was a bit too similar to Heart and Souls which is one of my favourite Robert Downey Jr. films, but it was indeed quite different too. There was some language in it and talk about a mummy's penis. My husband cried while we watched it during one of the ghost's finished business (the guy who played cameron from ferris bueller always has a hold on my man though, and that is who the actor of this ghost was). It was a good movie.
The Brothers Bloom2008 (w/ Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel Weisz, Rinko Kikuchi) - 3.25 stars - Two brothers grow up together trying to figure out how to make money. The older of the two is a great mind who can come up with plans to con others. The younger is used to act out ways of receiving the money. They have a quiet Japanese woman who likes to blow things up on their jobs. The younger brother has always wanted an unscripted life. He decides to do one more con with his brother in order to live his own life. A bored learned rich woman becomes the target. This film was directed so beautifully and the wardrobe is amazing. There was some language, violence, and sensual aspects in it, and a quick hospital gown bum shot.

Here is Chris Murray's "Love Flame" (I have used it in a hair tutorial because I adore it)
The beautiful Aya of Strawberry Koi had posted this entry on her blog with so many gorgeous photos of herself in dresses she was selling. I fell in love with a couple of the dresses, especially one. I have given it a happy home. This dress will be posted up all week because I took a lot of photos wearing it alone and with my family in photos.
It was so gorgeous on Saturday. The sun was shining and it was very warm but there was a cool breeze that kept drifting in regularly. Sometimes it was a strong gust.
so strong of a gust that sometimes I had to hold down my skirt
I was looking at a bunch of kids staring at me as I was taking these. There were a few people who kept walking through or rode their bikes by. One guy asked me if I was doing a school project (after he told me a train would run me over). . . which is weird considering he even asked my husband who was standing talking to our sons (but Rob didn't hear him and gave him a weird answer that had nothing to do with it). I just told him "I'm past that age". . since most college kids graduate at 22, and I am 26. . .granted I know people who went to college in their 30s and 40s.
Speaking of which my husband is so wonderful to be supportive of me doing these shoots. He does read my blog and puts the photos on his work computer wallpaper and phone wallpaper too. He was right near me as I took these. . I was all done with the shoot and getting the tripod packed up. Here is our jeep and the kids are in the back and Rob is leaning over talking to them through the window.
So thanks to him being a good sport (and my sons too).
Thanks everyone for the condolences about the loss of my uncle. You are all very sweet.
I needed to go redder. . but I think I went too red. It looks too fake. I really hope it fades soon.
I bought this dress in March from BambooBettie on etsy. It is a shame I didn't get photos of it sooner!
my hair is getting so long it is very hard to do any retro stryles with it. I could do more updos, but honestly I prefer having it down. I am getting to the point where I am not going to be able to do any tutorials for my hair. My goal is to get my hair to grow back below my hips like how it used to be when I had my "elf hair", but my hubby doesn't want me to cut the front half of my hair anymore like I did then and have now (but it is much longer now than it was then). I might have to attempt Veronica Lake hair for a few months. I was torn a few months ago between cutting it shorter or growing it out, but I would rather have it super long than short even if I can do more 40s hairstyles with it shorter.
I love the little puff sleeves and velvet bow details
I'll be taking a few days off from blogging because one of my uncles passed away yesterday.
Please pray for my aunt, their three children, and their grandson (happy 20th birthday today to my cousin Debbie - the baby of all my 1st cousins - I know today is tough but try to celebrate).
I go to the asian market (or I shop on one online).
Rob and I love General Tso Chicken with white rice, so I made some on Mother's Day (that's right, I did everything I normally do on Mama's day. . go have a talk with my husband to fix that for next year)
ahh juicy tenderness
There was some left over, so I decided to make some hand rolled sushi out of it for Rob's Bento (lunch box).
Probably too much grape in this. . since I put some peanut butter and jelly finger sandwiches in it and grapes.
and I wrote him a note.
(SHMILY means: See How Much I Love You. . which we randomly leave little surprise notes to each other here and there, be it on dirty windshields or on our phones, etc.) oh and he calls me Sihaya or S'aya for short (it is from the Dune series. . which if you know by now Leto's name came from the book series too and I call Rob "Usul" sometimes, also from the series).
And of course I made a little bag of candy too out of the assortment here (the Thomas pocky was for my sons, Hello Kitty for me!)
Wearing a dress I bought from the lovely Solanah over at Vixen Vintage.
It is extremely comfortable! I even used the ribbon she wrapped the dress in for my hair. haha.
the angle makes my arms look so long. . .I guess they are though anyway.
My husband has told me I can't wear most of my vintage dresses around the house because I end up getting them dirty (I don't have an apron, but seriously need one with all the cooking I do) or ripped and have to take the sewing machine out to mend them. This dress thankfully I can wear often because it is not vintage. He approved!
And if you are curious as to more angles of my hair, I did so a little bit of Marcel Waves in them. I have a tutorial for Marcel Waves on youtube.
Thanks to my husband "The Rakis Rant" for taking the first three photos as soon as he got home from work last week. He is so good to me. I am so smitten by everything about him.
