Camping Trip Part 2!

Gorgeous beauty

After everyone had dinner, we went back to go on more rides.
This thing was awesome. It played whistly pipe music (it's a Calliope). It was used in the 1800s and had a lot of history behind it that I didn't read (I think my husband did. whoops). It was really pretty and was huge!.

close up.

Rob and I (and our kids) went to get some fudge here. I was soaked in sweat (see it?)!! It was really hot and humid outside. This was a historical cottage and was so pretty.

The youth pastor, his wife, and son went on the ferris wheel. What a long wait for them to get done. All the kids wanted so badly to go on the huge log flume and were getting antsy.
Here is water from the big log flume's splashes. They have a bridge that people can stand on to get soaked from it. Those are our kids and youth pastor getting wet right after they got off the flume. The water reached people walking on the black top too, so we stayed far back.

Rob took this of me on the bumper boat. I was going after one of the kids. Only two of them went on it with me. It was fun for me at least.
We went back to camp to make smores! I tried my best to take this shot of them roasting marshmallows in the dark of the night.

Next day: My beautiful son Micah picking his nose! haha

Me with Ashley - so weird to think that I remember when her mom was pregnant with her and now she is going into 7th grade.

These two are brothers. . .can you tell. they have the same face!

Mikyla had a hard time smiling for me. She's a bit shy (but talks to me). She was the oldest one there (entering 10th grade. The others are entering 7th&8th, and one 4th grade - that younger brother in the green shirt above)

and this is her much less shy sister Caitlin. I love both these girls so much and love that they are different from one another, and both unique!
Youth pastor's daughter

My handsome husband Rob whom I love so much. I honestly stare at this picture a lot since putting it on the computer. He's dreamy. I feel like I have a little school girl crush. Maybe it is because I hang out with 13 year olds.
My little nail biter: Leto
I brought my tripod and remote so I could get a group shot. We could have taken a few more people, and we have many more in the youth group, but these were the ones who were able to go.
from left to right: Micah (my son), Rob (my husband), Justin, Kevin, Melissa, Karen, Mikyla, Nate, Caitlin, Leto (my son), Ronnie, Ashley, Janice, Natalie, Mike, and me in front (I really do live out of my Star Wars shirts people) and Dominick in his chair.

Then we have the goofy shot. . I was pretending to eat my son!
after some pancakes, guess what? They wanted more roller coasters. Rob and I (and our sons) were getting used to this. Here I am sitting waiting for the roller coaster to open. My R2-D2 shirt by the way is from Delias from last year, my shorts are circa 1967 from Vietnam (my dad's war fatigue pants cut up).
This thing was pretty far up but I zoomed in a bit.

Leto can drive already! oh no!!

This was a helicopter ride that lifted in the air that Dominick and Leto (who will not become a Yankees fan like his friend hopefully) went on together. They had so much fun!!

Then we packed up our things and went back home. :(

Camping Trip Part 1!

We didn't get to the camping grounds (Knoebles in Pennsylvania - about 2.5-3 hours away from our NJ home) until about 8:30 or 9PM. It was a bit dark and tents were being set up mainly by the males. It took us a while to get to sleep because our little boys are used to their beds. It was really hot by the time we went to bed. Thankfully it cooled off a bit in the middle of the night. Of course I'm an early bird and woke up at about 5:30, got dressed, got Micah some milk (thankfully the ice kept everything cold for the whole HOT weekend), and read my Bible in the woods for a very short while before the boys woke up. We were the first ones awake (we went with some of the Jr. high youth group kids - I'm a youth leader).

Here I am in my "camp outfit" which was actually very comfortable most of the day - even though I looked like a total geek. I got the outfit from Target. I wore the socks so that the mosquitoes would stay away from biting me. It worked. I didn't get ONE bite all weekend. That's our tent - yes all 4 of us fit just fine in it.

And that is our Jeep Liberty. I look so tired. That's what happens when you get about 3 hours of sleep.

Here is Micah putting on one of Rob's hats. Poor Micah was in that stroller most of the weekend (he would have run around like crazy! He's such an adventurer).

At about 8 we had eggs, taylor ham (aka pork roll), and cheese on english muffins. We hung around a little bit while everyone else was getting ready. Then we headed out to the amusement park. for some fun. It was hot and muggy and rained a little bit before we got there.

Here is the Youth Pastor's son Dominick and my Leto hanging out with him. They are really good friends and had so much fun together! They are 10 weeks apart (Leto is the older one). aw. friends! no mosquito bites for Leto either! Our bug spray must have been amazing.

Here's Micah and Rob. I think we were listening to people talk. The woman in the back is one of the kid's moms who went with us. She's holding the Youth Pastor's daughter.

Rob and Leto went on a ride together. Look at how happy Leto is!

I went on the log flume. I only went on about 3 rides, Rob went on two. We're not much for rides, so we watched everyone else go on the roller coasters and such while spending time with each other and some of the kids that didn't go on rides that others went on.

Yey!! This was the little log flume though. there was a much larger one on the other side of the park. I didn't go on that one though. The people behind me are the parents of one of the youth kids.

After a couple of hours we all ate lunch together. This is the youth pastor's wife and daughter.

Then some kids went on more rides. This is Ronnie who didn't want to go on one of the roller coasters.

We went swimming afterwards. My hair of course got all messed up and this is after we came back from swimming. We were there for a few hours. They had a little wading pool and we went in there for the longest time with the boys. We then ate dinner on the burner and I used the camp fire. .  that Rob built (although some of the girls were trying to build the fire for three hours while we were swimming, and it took him 2 minutes).  Here I am with one of the girls (Melissa).

Everyone had hot dogs and burgers. I brought some corn and potatoes and put a burger patty in the mix (and lots of pepper, the way I like it). I used to do this at camp every year and missed it. I offered to make some for other people but they weren't interested :( It was delicious!!!

Mmmm

MMMMMM!

John, Missy, and Baby on the way!

My cousin Missy (Melissa. . .but all the family call her Missy) is anticipating her first child. She asked me to do her pregnancy photoshoot for her. Of course she got the family discount, and I took loads of gorgeous photos. A lot of them were baby belly shots for her but I am not posting any publically. Here are a few of my other favourite shots though!

For nostalgia's sake here is an old photo of us. She is a about a year and a half older than me. She's the one on the left, I'm on the right. . .wearing a vintage dress!!!! we were playing brides. the year is correct. that was 1989. That is my mom with the perm in the back left side and my dad in the red shirt behind me.

"Sailor Sally" fun!

A few months ago, my church was in need of someone to do the skits as a pirate for Vacation Bible School for the 4-11 year olds. I do pirate voice pretty well and figured I could easily do it. Then I got all the lines for the skits and it turns out they needed a sailor, not a pirate. This too was fine with me and actually saved me money, since I only had to buy a sailor hat! The first day of the skit I had to wear tourist clothes. the past two weeks this is what I've been transformed into since becoming an official sailor for the High Seas Expedition! I have two weeks left. It is just me and the leader (who introduces everything and does the songs) in all the skits. It has been fun.

Here I am with my ship!

We have a few people from our church who are classic car collectors. I was happy to see that one of them brought their 40s coupe to church so I jumped at the chance for some shots by it.

yes I have no bum. that's okay with me.

the back part of my hair (the top half is done up too in a couple loops. . I have a lot of hair to do these thing)s. Someone at church told me it looked like an endless loop. I've done my hair like this for the past two weeks.

Going Camping! See you Soon!

I'll be away today through Saturday night. I am really behind in blog entries and the internet world but I'll do a little catching up when I come back.

In the meantime ask me some questions about anything at all (from clothes, love, hobbies, etc) HERE or in the box on the top right side of my blog. I'll make sure to answer them soon!

Movies & Music Suggestion Post #23

Movies are rated on a scale of 1-5 stars. Anything over 3 stars is very worth it and is in bold.
I'm pretty harsh with my ratings, sadly this week was not a good movie week. :(

The Runaways 2010 (w/ Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon) - 2.75 stars - This is more about Cherie Curie and Joan Jett rather than the rest of the Runaways. They all looked a lot like the actual girls which was insane. Story is that these girls were trying to belong in different ways, and perhaps Joan Jett just always knew who she was. It was about a friendship and music. Thing is they were 15 and to me were sexually exploited by the producer in order to get big. There was a lot of drug use in this film. I hate drug films honestly. There was a breast scene of a girl taking her shirt off, there was also backside nudity. There was a sex scene of the producer, There were sexual lesbian scenes from kissing and more. Lots of only underwear being worn too. I think they went a little overboard to the point where the few years they were together seemed like a season only. I have a few of their albums an only about 3 or 4 of their songs were played, and a couple of Joan Jett's songs from the 80s. It seemed incomplete to me. . . I was disappointed because I really looked forward to this movie and was very near seeing it in theatres. Glad I didn't. Their acting was good though!!! They sang so nicely too considering they had to try to sound like the band members. . .Although I think Dakota Fanning's voice was a little too girly compared to Cherie. And I know I read in March that they had to lower Kristen Stewart's voice an octave digitally because she sounds more girly too. She got the rough part pretty well though!!!

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian  2009 (w/ Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson) - 1.5 stars - I saw the first one in theatres and thought even that one was average. This one was just pretty boring. What happened to that lady he fell for in the first one even? This one is about how Larry (the main character) goes to save his museum friends out of their transfer to the Smithsonian. I don't really have much else to say on it. Some of it was funny but hardly.

The Producers 2005 (w/ Matthew Broderick, Nicholas Lane, Uma Thurman, Will Ferrel) - 1 star - You just can't top Gene Wilder. He was the man. The original was much better and I didn't even really like that one either. Will Ferrel was the best character in this version. Matthew Broderick's singing was a bit annoying for me. I have a hard time not seeing Ferris Bueller in all his roles (one of my favourites ever). There is a lot of sexual sequences in this from the costumes, the songs, and the characters. The colours and hair and such are so pretty though.  I miss Gene Wilder.

Wild in the Country 1961 (w/ :Elvis Presley, Hope Lange, Tuesday Weld, Millie Perkins) - 3 stars - Man Elvis' character is so fickle in this that it drove me crazy. He was such a confused character and attention drawing!! The story was really good though. It is about a kid  who loves to write, who ends up on parole. Ladies fall for him (and he falls for them).  He has to see a Social Worker through it all and people are always out to get him in trouble.

I Love You, Beth Cooper 2009 (w/ Hayden Panettiere, Paul Rust) - 2 stars - The valedictorian professes his love to the girl he's had a crush on since middle school. Little did he know that he would have a whole night hanging out with her afterwards.  Of course her boyfriend isn't too happy about that. There is language in this, sexual content (quite a bit of it, sadly - only nudity in it is side view of a bosom or two for a split second but that is a lot, there are loads of things I could list otherwise). There is punching and beating up of people as well. I would have rated this lower but I did think the storyline was kinda sweet.

A River Runs Through It 1992 (w/ Craig Sheffer, Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt, Emily Lloyd, Robert Redford) - 3.25 stars - Two brothers grow up together learning how to fish due to their Preacher father teaching them. While one of the brothers goes to college and the other is a writer for a local paper, each love each other and always find their common bond through fishing. There is a bit of a romance in this and a beautiful monologue at the end as well. I love the hairstyles and clothes too. There was quite a bit of swearing in this, lots of punching, and two sunburned backsides (close ups).

All About Eve 1950 (w/ Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, Celeste Holm) - 3 stars - I could never enjoy Bette Davis' acting, but in this I actually feel a little sorry for her character which means she convinces me. This story is about an aging stage actress who has a huge fan that pretty much wants everything she has. She is selfish but plays a good lie of who she is, making it seem like she's so sweet. Long movie but keeps your attention. Beautiful outfits! A woman does get slapped in this.

So I Married an Axe Murderer 1993 (w/ Mike Myers, Nancy Travis) - 2.75 stars - One heartbreak after the next, Charlie wants to find "the one" to settle down with. When he meets a butcher in town, he really feels she is that one, but he thinks she has a shady past and tries to get his undercover cop best friend to investigate for him. I thought his beat poetry was great. This movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. There is swearing and some sexual talk (it is Mike Myers after all. . :: sigh :: ). There is also his naked backside.

MTV's Wuthering Heights 2003 (w/ Cast:Erika Christensen, Mike Vogel, Christopher Masterson, Johnny Whitworth, Katherine Heigl) - 1.75 stars - I saw the end of this back when it first aired. I hated the book. I have never liked the movies. . .yet something about this story always makes me want to see all versions of it. I am so incredibly confused by the story. I will never understand it and this movie is modern and not much like the book at all but includes music. The music is so-so. Some is not that good at all. Lots of sexual stuff in this without showing actual nudity. Not worth seeing. boring.

The Last of the Mohicans 1992 (w/ Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeleine Stowe) - 3 stars - I never read the book so I can't judge off of it.  This was not a long story, which it was interesting, but a little boring at times. A Mohican man adopted a white boy as his own (and has a son of his own as well). The three of them are trackers and just want people to be treated fairly. They get involved in a rescue of daughters of a British high ranking soldier (don't remember his rank). There is a lot of violence in this. What a sad story! I expected this to be better.

East of Eden 1955 (w/ James Dean, Julie Harris) - 3 stars - A young man longs to know himself. His father favours his brother, and he feels he is the bad child. He goes searching for his mother even though she is supposedly dead. Of course drama occurs between his family, himself, and the love he has for his brother's girl. Very interesting, but not amazing.

Music I've been listening to:
Random Task - The Dividing Line album - favourite tracks: Entire album. . .again one of my all time favourite bands, sad that they hardly were known (they were local)
Edna's Goldfish - The Elements of Transition album - favourite tracks: "Avoiding the Swerve", "Veronica Sawyer"
Slick Shoes - Burn Out album - favourite tracks: "For Better, For Worse", "East on Tracks", "Fulfilling"
The Israelites - Roots album - Favouite tracks: still don't really have one

This was a former NJ local band. Edna's Goldfish - "Veronica Sawyer"

Rockin' At Pops

Right near where I live is this little 50s styled hot dog and ice cream shoppe called POPS. We constantly stop there for Vanilla milkshakes and hot dogs (I really really love hot dogs).  The owners are so nice. The lady who runs it always talks to me and she commented often on my outfits. She said she wanted a photo of me in her shoppe. Therefore I told her I would take a few in time. Finally I went through with it on Saturday. There were quite a few people there (and they watched me set up and photograph myself. It doesn't bother me at all).  I'll probably do more shoots there in the future. If you are ever in NJ, stop in there!

I sat by the Singin' in the Rain poster because I adore the movie! I love Gene Kelly's films.

You can see a reflection of a customer there, but I tried to watch for where they'd stand so they wouldn't show up in my shots.

Someone was talking to me which I smile a lot when people talk to me and I talk to them. I clicked the timer to take this before they started to talk to me.

My dad had one of those corvettes. . .blew up from racing or something. .

Mmmm Nothing like Sabretts!!!
